Manufacturer WINCHESTERThis 1955 rifle is in original condition. The pre-1964 has superior craftmanship of forged steel with screws (as opposed to alloy and dowel pins like the post 64). Chambered in classic 30-30, this is an excellent rifle for hunting deer and elk. The lever action on this firearm is smooth. The walnut stock is in great condition. Overall this rifle is in great shape for the year. The bluing has some loss as to be expected for this original firearm (see pictures). Often called “The Gun that Won the West”, the Model 94's design and effectiveness is so superior that it remains one of the most popular deer rifles in the world. Of all the Winchesters, no rifle design has been revered more among hunters, collectors, target shooters and outdoor writers than the Model 70 with the Pre-'64 type action. The Model 94 is a landmark firearm designed by the great genius of guns John Moses Browning in 1894 notable for quality and collectability. This is a historical firearm. The s/n 2000000 of this model was presented to President Dwight D Eisenhower in 1953. Serial number 1,000,000 was presented to Calvin Coolidge in 1927 and Serial Number 1,5000,000 was presented to Harry S. Truman in 1948. This was a well cared firearm and is part of an estate sale collection.
